Theatre Basics for Young Actors
Grades 6 – 12

Class Description: Learn the foundations of performance and production, build enduring friendships, and perform in a final Showcase on Thursday, May 1. This is great preparation for The WordPlayers upcoming summer camps, theatre opportunities, and school shows.
Instructor: Dana Spears, Child Development Specialist and instructor for The WordPlayers summer theatre camps.

Payment: Pay online by clicking the button below, or mail a check payable to “The WordPlayers” to PO Box 50451, Knoxville, TN 37950. If paying the full amount in a single payment is a barrier to participation, please email leslie@wordplayers.org to set up a payment schedule.
*Homeschool students seeking high school credit can add the Homeschool Packet ($50) that includes reading and writing assignments, testing, and grading by Dr. Spears. Purchase packets directly from the instructor.

Our beloved camps will be back in full force next Summer with an extra week for younger artists. Our camps are fun, challenging, and a perfect opportunity to advance young skills, or try theatre for the first time. Stay tuned for details, show information, and pricing for the favorite thing your kids will do next Summer!
Younger Artists (ages 8-12)
From Johnny Appleseed to pirates and toy thieves, Tom Sawyer to Aladdin, our Younger Artists will have the opportunity to audition, put up sets, and wear fantastic costumes as they craft an entire show from start to finish in one week.

Young Artists (ages 12-16)
Students will have the opportunity to take material above their pay grade and make it another tool in their belt. Buckle up, we’re going to be challenged, and have a blast doing it.
