Affirmation on Tour
By Terry Weber
Our tour of Lift Every Voice is underway (click here for show details). It’s a wonderful production which explores the impact of the Harlem Renaissance. The target audience is students and teachers from middle school through college.
Cast member Rollin Prince shared that the company had said during rehearsals “that if we impacted and educated just one person, then this production was worth it!”
Well, Violet Mullins, a freshman at Christian Academy of Knoxville, saw the show on Feb. 8th with over 400 of her schoolmates. Oh, how it warmed our hearts when she sent an unsolicited email with her reactions to the show! With her permission, I share a couple of them below.
“I also liked the church scene where the preacher was passionately praying with the assembly. My reaction to this was that I desired to have a passion like the preacher displayed in his words and actions. I wish my passion for God was that great, that alive, and that confident. I am encouraged to seek him more deeply because of this…”
“You all have an amazing group with amazing talents with one incredible God! Keep using these gifts to honor and praise Him as you creatively deliver inspiring stories!”
Thank you, Violet, for lifting your voice to encourage us. Thank you for articulating and affirming for us why we, as Christian theatre artists, do this thing called theatre: “…whatever you do, do it all fortheglory of God.” (1 Cor. 10:31)
