It’s almost over! With one weekend down and one weekend to go, it feels like these shows have flown by! It’s hard to believe that we only just started this process in late January. Now the beginning of March, I feel like we are only getting started, not that we should be slowing down.

Our first three shows, with the minor issue of weather during opening night, went really well. We were almost done with the first run and had about 12 minutes to go, when the house lights came up and we were told to head to the basement
because of a tornado warning.

For me, this was the first time something like this ever happened on stage. While I did feel rather unfulfilled not being able to finish the play, it was a rather exciting experience.

The next two shows went very well, in my opinion. I don’t think there is ever a perfect show. You’re always going to have something that could have been better, but the whole cast did a fantastic job. Anything that had been flubbed had been covered well.

This cast really is a pleasure to work with. Each person has something different to bring to the table and I’m really glad to have been a part of the Anne family. It has been a blessing to get to know new people and reconnect with old friends.

These kids especially have really surprised me. They are all great actors and actresses and are going to do great things as they get older. I have loved just sitting around, talking, and goofing off with these great kids!

It is going to be very odd when this is all over. A part of me will be glad. I will no longer have to drive an hour to and from rehearsals and I’ll finally be able to get a decent night of sleep! But part of me wonders what I will do with myself.

I’ve gotten so used to seeing these people every day and I’ve gotten so used to hurrying around to get things done. It’s honestly very bittersweet. I suppose all good things must come to an end, but as Anne says, “True friends are always together in spirit.”

If you haven’t already, be sure to come see one of the remaining performances on March 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m. and March 11 at 2:30 p.m. All shows are at the Middlebrook Christian Ministry building. To find out more, go to our Anne of Avonlea page
